*Westminster Center Park Wins Big
The new Westminster Center Park at 4801 W. 92ndAve. received two prestigious awards at the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association conference on September 24 in Breckenridge. The Starburst Award is given by the Colorado Lottery for a project that achieves its goal, uses Lottery funds creatively and has an economic and social impact to the community. The Columbine Award, given by CPRA recognizes excellence in park design. The park, adjacent to City Hall, was funded through the parks, open space and trails sales tax extension and grants provided by Adams County Open Space and Great Outdoors Colorado, a division of the Colorado Lottery. The versatile, unique 9.5-acre park delights everyone and usage has surpassed all expectations.
The City of Westminster is one of the most digitally savvy cities in the nation, according to an annual study conducted by the Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology in government and education. Westminster ranked fourth in the populaion category of 75,000 to 125,000, moving up one spot from its fifth-place finish last year. This is the sixth year in a row that Westminster has received a top 10 ranking. Westminster is the only Colorado city to maintain a top-10 rating for the last six years in the category.
